Topic Last Modified: 2010-05-18

You can set up e-mail on a BlackBerry Curve or other types of Blackberries.

How do I set up Exchange e-mail on a BlackBerry?

  1. From the BlackBerry home screen, click BlackBerry Setup > Set up Internet E-mail > Add An Email Account. OR  From the BlackBerry home screen, click Email Setup > Add an Email Account.
  2. Type your e-mail address and password, and then click Next.
  3. Your account should set up automatically at this point. If your BlackBerry device can't determine the appropriate server settings, click I will provide the settings to add this email account.
  4. Scroll down and then click Next.
  5. Select Exchange if available. (if Exchange is not available choose IMAP) , and then click Next.
  6. Type your user name (lfirstname.lastname@knoxschools.org).
  7. Scroll down and type the name of your e-mail server. pod51004.outlook.com.

Droid

• Go to Accounts and Settings
• Add Account
• Choose Corporate
• When prompted put in your email address and password

NOTE:  O
n the next page, your username will come in the domain line like this /first.last. Edit your username and take out the / . Put your whole email address. (firstname.lastname@knoxschools.org) You must remove the forward slash. /

•Change the server from knoxschools.org to pod51004.outlook.com
•Check off both of the SSL checkmarks. (one will default to on)

This should successfully add your exchange account.

You may be prompted to answer other questions. Just do your best. Most things won't make much of a differnce and you can change them later.

  • "Send email from this account by default?" Sure, why not?
  • "20mgs. 50mgs or All" You might as well choose All. You can choose 20mgs if you don't have much space on your phone.
If the above steps do not work, do the following:

On the phone, go to Applications.
Go to Email.
Choose Microsoft Exchange.
Put in your whole email address: first.last@knoxschools.org
Put in your email password.
Next screen:
Domain: knoxschools.org
Password (your email password):
Exchange server:   m.outlook.com
Make sure both SSL items have check marks, and click Next.

You should be prompted to choose your calendar settings and contacts settings.
The "push" settings determine how often new emails are sent to your phone.
If your phone gives a message about resetting the administrator account on the phone (associating a different email), have these directions handy and contact your service provider before proceeding.
